Eagleclan
Name Origin: Eagles are a sign of protection and freedom. Rather than follow the strict rules of religion the cats who follow Eagleclan have always been more free-form and loose. They believe in birds as their partners and spiritual guides because of the way birds can go wherever they want, they just have to fly.
Leadership: Lasseiz-Faire- it's very hands off. Cats vote for the deputy, then when the leader passes away they vote again "yes or no" as to whether they think the deputy is ready for the job.
When they vote yes the deputy takes the leadership position. They do not receive lives since they dont believe in the gods, but the clan makes them a nest made of feathers as a sign of respect. If the clan votes no the deputy is in charge of finding the best warrior for the job.
Aside from that the leader is more of a figurehead, there for support and to make military decisions. The leaders are in charge of keeping the clan together and bonded so they don't fall apart while the deputy usually takes on normal leadership positions such as patrols and hunting parties. The leader does decide mentor and apprentice relationships.
Location: Eastern face of Black Peak located in Alaska, USA.
Eagleclan lives in a small concave shape in the ground. Its protected from wind by strong rocks that surround it but is otherwise exposed. The ditch they live in is warmed by the surrounding volcanic rock.
Eagleclan only goes underground when there is a big blizzard or an attack on the camp. They hide in tunnels and caves that theyve dug out and were made naturally. Medicine cats and Queens stay in the tunnels always to keep kittens and patients warm but warriors and elders make their own nests near rocks and near the ditch walls so they're protected from snow.
Skills: Eagleclan has grown to be skilled in hunting and stealth. Almost every cat knows basic medicinal needs but they're mostly skilled in hunting. They feed themselves most often and therefore everyone has preened their hunting skills. They can catch birds, small mice, you name it. They struggle with large prey and predators that might attack them so they've learned to hide.
Lifestyle and Religion: Eagleclan lives freely, believing only in their own spirits. They are more focused on the here and now and don't bother with praying to the gods. A few stragglers remember and speak about the Gods, and a few cats still believe natural disasters are caused by them but everyone else just focuses on surviving.
The clan works in the same loose way as their religion does. They hunt and eat whenever they feel like it and are usually closer to their own families than anyone else in the clan. They take care of their kin, then the clan. That's how Eagleclan stays. The only reason anyone still lives in Eagleclan is because of how much protection it provides. Being in a large group of cats has proven to keep cats safe, so everyone stays close to one another.
In Eagleclan they believe birds to be their partners, especially predatory birds like hawks, falcons, and especially eagles. They see them as old friends and family helping them through their day-to-day lives.
Origin: After the group broke up, Heron couldn't help but stare after his brother. He watched as the stubborn tom turned around and started walking. He kept watching until he was sure Mouse never looked back.
A thorn as cold as ice struck him. He wanted to follow Mouse and to fix things but he knew it was too late. This was bound to happen to the two brothers. After all, didn't Heron start it? How could he beg for forgiveness now?
Mouse left Heron with only a quarter of the original clan. Everyone else followed him out of fear, fear that they'd die without him. Heron, too, felt that same fear. He was scared of dying alone. Alone without his lifelong companion. Heron blinked away tears, looking surprised when a young she-cat by the name of Lily brushed against his fur. "It's cold, Heron," she complained. Heron agreed with her, knowing she was trying to push him forward and make him lead the clan.
"Everyone listen up," he shouted over the wind, getting a few tired heads to snap around and look at him, "we need to stick together. Survival is our only option. Everyone huddle close to the queens and carry a kit," he ordered, "then we will start moving."
A few confused looks pierced his fur and he defiantly looked back at them. Everyone moved and listened, looking up at him with pleading gazes. "Where will we go," an exhausted tom inquired, sounding desperate. "Home," Heron replied as he turned around and started walking.
After only half an hour of walking a young kit's squeal could be heard by all the members in the group. Heron and Lily, the two leads of the group, turned their heads around and stared as a queen slipped under the earth after her kit.
Heron ran after her, feeling his heart race as another cat slipped into the hole. "Wait," Heron cried as another warrior sniffed at the abyss. Just as Heron got close enough to see the snow under him caved and he slid into a dark ditch in the ground, lit only by a hole in the sky.
He shook himself, looking around in dismay. A queen cuddled her kit in releif and a tom shushed them, then they both stared at Heron. Slowly but surely cats began to curiously slip into the warm hole, staring at Heron as he stood with his mouth gaped open.
"This is amazing," Lily cried as she wrapped her tail around Heron's neck. "It does look fine enough to live in," a tom chipped in, glancing at the hole in the sky.
The qhite queen who originally fell into the hole chimed, "If you think I'm going back out there after finding a place this warm you're going to the Underground."
That hushed everyone, as they all peered at Heron. Heron sighed. "Of course we can stay," he said, flicking his tail and ordering Lily to start making nests with whatever she could find. There were plenty of plants that found solice in the damp ditch and she quickly moved to use them.
Soon enough a makeshift camp was made, and after that a fully grown camp. That's where Eagleclan decided to stay for as long as they could.
